National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is considering a blockchain solution that would help the cosmic agency to launch a successful fly to the Ice moon of Saturn — Titan.

Blockchain is being integrated into space programs

According to NASA briefing, the new blockchain protocol called “SCRAMBL” was discussed that improves the communication in ‘inhospitable’ environments. Using the distributed ledger technology, SCRAMBL will store and spread the register containing relevant data on networking satellites.

The basic algorithm will be built in the way that would enable spaceships’ systems to solve disconnections. In case one node faces issues, others may quickly adapt and select the most effective way of data transferring.

Such dynamic adaptability is highly important as NASA is expanding its mission with drones to Titan, the moon of Saturn, where the harsh conditions create troubles for data transfer.
